I was elected as the first female representative for Franklin in 2007.

I entered politics because I deeply believe in quality education, decent health services and that fairness in the workplace should be available to everyone.

Throughout my career in politics, I have worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of others.

In the previous Labor Government, I held the portfolios of Community Services, Indigenous Employment and Economic Development and the Status of Women and Minister for Housing and Homelessness.

I am currently the Shadow Minister for Agriculture.

I live on Hobart’s Eastern Shore with my husband Ian and my three children.
